Multiple Banks of Instruments for one Device?

Is there a simple way to load a bank of instruments into a device (sampler) for one song,

and then load a different bank of instruments into the same device for a different song?

I'm thinking this could be done with device descriptions, but will it actually work?

The device description "describes" the contents of the sampler. Therefore, if you load different samples, you will need a new device. The actual sampler plug-in is just an empty thing.

You can save presets for devices that you frequently use. They include a device and the stored plug-in data.

For quick hacks in an arrangement, you build a device on the fly, only adding sounds as needed. No need to prepare devices for all your sound libraries. That would be too much.

I'm just thinking of making Device Descriptions for sounds I use frequently - not everything.

I'll play with it a little bit and get back to you.
