Sending Midi clock from SFP to Tyros 5

Posted

I usually send external MIDI clock from Logic to SFP.  I wanted to send midi clock from SFP to Tyros  5. Temporariy by passing Logic completely. I thought I had done this with Tyros 4.. Perhaps i had Logic send master midi clock to both Tyros and SFP

I've set up all instruments for SFP to play Motif XS rack.. and the 'chord track' to go to Tyros 5 chord input analyzer.  Tyros sees the chords and plays them.. but doesn't get a midi clock

I thought reading from manual that SFP could send out MIDI clock to any device.  Am I missing something?

thanx..

I think you're going to need to buid in mid delay/predelay for each of the four port outputs..

As you know each midi  hardwasre instrument, even some software VI and patches with very slow attacks need to have their timeing adjusted..

I was tying to drive SFP tracks to Yamaha Tyros, and send clock to Tyros 5, along with T5 generated parts, but the midi lag of the clock was so bad, it was unplayable.

An even more ideal solutions would be to be able to slide each individual track in SFP forward/backwards by some amount along with midi delay setting to SFP ports..

I always do that with some brass, strings, flute, in relation to drums guitar and piano.

Sorry if this gives you a headache, but it needs to be a solution for that.

Even the Motif and Tyros have different response times.. from the same company.

The clock signal can not be delayed, but you can set a latency (ms) of a device. I can not test right now, but if I remember correctly, that will shift the music and the MIDI clock in either direction.
