Some thoughts

Posted

I've already suggested it but i'll say it again just in case it went unheard, "alt ~" to alternate through open windows, would be brilliant.

Also, to be able to scroll time wise through the arrange window by using the mighty mouse scroll wheel in a horizontal movement. Would be handy.

The following suggestion is probably more selfish, as I am asking for a key command that is identical to Logic's arrange stuff. To be able to move through the container timeline in bars (forward arrow key and backwards arrow key) and jump to next/previous container, maybe shift forward/backward arrow. Would make my world.

And lastly, something a little more radical. Got to thinking, don't know if it's unrealistic, but to be able to take two phrases and make a hybrid from them, like fuse them. Would be pretty cool, would get interesting results I think. Don't know if it's unrealistic. I know you can do it pretty much anyway, by pasting phrases on top of each other, but a clever function that attempted to make a complete coherent phrase would be neat. Actually you pretty much can by resampling and manipulating.

I agree. I'm so used to this feature in many Mac apps, that it drives me crazy to keep trying it in Synfire, which of course does not work.

In the best of all worlds, I would (eventually) like to see all shortcut keys user-modifiable in preferences. This is done in a lot of complex software to make it easy for the user to customize the shortcuts, but I'm sure the implementation isn't a small task.

Still, we can dream, right?

Horizontal scrolling should not be a problem. I added it to the list.

User-defined keyoard shortcuts is already on the list.

Blending phrases works. Check out the Morphing parameter. You could capture the resulting phrase(s) with a snapshot.

sorry, that was (apple ~), not (alt ~).

thanks Andre for the morphing tip, i'lll check it out. overlooked it, stupidly too as the name suggests exactly what I want.

and I have one more suggestion, sorry if it's been suggested before. had a look last night at some posts so I didn't double up on anything.

to be able to copy containers quickly to a new location by (alt dragging). i'd like that.

love the key commands for selecting the tools (span, segment, chord etc.) by the way, becoming very smooth at working with phrases. thanks.
