time signatures

Posted

Hi - I packed an empty root container and

I'm trying to set up 3 <1 bar> containers :

1st container 7/4, then <1bar> 9/8, then <1bar> 4/4

I cant get the last bar <4/4> to snap to the previous 9/8 bar...it either leaves an 1/8th gap or it dives under the previous container...any help would be appreciated

thanks in advance - proto

The containers cannot be moved in steps smaller than 1/4 with the mouse. But you can enter the desired position offset manually. Select the container after the 9/8 container, select the "Container" tab in the parameter inspector and then enter "1m+9/8" in the input field "Offset".

Another possibility to avoid gaps between containers is the command "Keep child containers in a row". Select the root container and then activate that command. This will ensure that your three underlaying containers are kept in a row (without gaps).

That did it thanks Juergen- works as you described.

Have you had any luck exporting sf projects to .smf or .xml with time signature changes?

When I import to .smf reaper it just gives a single master meter.

Then work around is to export each container seperately i guess?

You are right, time signature changes seem not to be exported. Maybe a bug. I haven't noticed that until now because I'm adjusting the time signature changes (if necessary) after the export in the DAW anyway.

No, that's not necessary. You can export the whole arrangement and easily adjust the time signature changes in the DAW afterwards. Not a big deal.

I had thought you could move containers by the 'quantize value' that was currently accepted.  Am I wrong? (It would be a nice feature if you can't)
