It would be very nice if transport was 'undockable', or one could open up an instance of the Transport alone, and put it where he wanted on the screen.. Transports at bottom of window, frequently is hard to get too, when you want to have a few windows.. All windows should have option to follow Transport. You may or may not want to watch a phrase in a library advance as song plays, but could be very helpful in certain situations.
Transport should show exact measure, beat, subdivision, and time, SMPTE. etc. To help with precise copy/pasting. sliding up/down on measure/beat/subdivision, should also adjust the starting point.
To help with editing.. Sometimes one can edit notes, without waiting to hear results.. Say I want to adjust note lengths of some note lengths in a track... I play the song, when the playhead passes a note I want to change. Song should continue to play, but stop advancing the 'event horizon'.. I would then click on play again while song is still playing, and timeline would jump to the proper correct point, and continue moving.
I use this feature a lot in Logic.. I edit notes on fly, even as song continues to play. I'll then rewind and play song again, fixing more notes.. It is emotionally more satisfying to fix and continue to hear the song playing. It creates more energy in a way, and one feels more 'empowered'. Multitasking on the fly.
