Andre answered this earlier at some stage in this thread. If I remember correctly, the summary is that a dongle-free setup causes extra costs by iLok, so whether or not this will be available long term depends on how many users will use that approach instead of using a hardware iLok.
For example, I will continue using an iLok, because that makes it simpler to carry over the licence to different computers (but I am not using a laptop usually, so I have an abundance of USB ports + hubs).
Libraries are audio documents with their own rack, just like arrangements. When you drop a phrase, Synfire will ask you whether you also want to copy the sound to the arrangement rack.
I might end up generating pretty short figures with factories (e.g., just a beat long), and then arrange such beat ideas manually myself into larger units.
That's the recommended way. While it is possible to make factories that evolve a motif over time, it is more intuitive to just generate variations with the same factory, pick the ones you like and glue them together.
The idea to have algorithms that compose extended sections of dramatic music is cool, but crashes under the weight of parameters needed to control millions of possible outcomes. We might make a few just for the fun of it and to learn more about KIM. This is uncharted territory.
We will open a new thread specifically for Factories. New factories will be added based on your pre-release feedback.

I spent the past two days struggling with the automated deployment process, mostly Apple's code signatures and Gate Keeper. They refuse to work on latest releases of macOS. It's a pain, but we are getting closer to the finish line.
An unexpected last minute issue crossed our plans (again). We will continue tomorrow morning, CET. I want to see the pre-release out tomorrow!
IMPORTANT: After an upgrade to v2, there is no easy way back to version 1 without assistance from customer support. It would require us to restore a v1 license manually, as it will have been replaced by v2. There should be little reason to go back, but if you need to be 100% sure, please wait until we confirm the lab rats and guinea pigs have survived ;-)

Coincidentally, I got an email about Orb Composer being on deep discount today and decided to poke my head in here and it looks like I won't be needing that Orb stuff. Looking forward to the Synfire 2.0 update for sure!

I took a gamble on the flagship Orb producer back in '18. From the start it was a unfinshed crash monster. I shelved it and was shocked to see a company take a risk on such product failure then turn around and launch a answer to mixed in key captain chords. A few months ago I sent them a email asking if they would at least give me a copy of hexachords.....all they "could do" was 30 percent off then a week later they offer the public 40 percent off. wow......

Ok. Lab rats were busy testing and have survived so far. Looks good, with the exception of minor issues installing on Windows 11 (Should you get stuck installing on Windows 11, you can uninstall v1 and try again. Otherwise, do NOT uninstall v1 before you install v2. It migrates all your settings nicely).
Be warned however, that you will be on your own until tomorrow around noon CET (in about 14 hours). So please do not make the upgrade yet if you can't afford to get stuck.
Make a backup first! You need a 2nd generation iLok or later. Or open a cloud session with License Manager and you are set w/o a dongle for now.
PayPal email address needs to be the same as your user account, or manual approval is required. I can't disable this right now. Will check for emails only occasionally during the next couple hours.
Please submit crash reports with Help >> Online Updates. I want to fix them all tomorrow and upload a new build.
Those within the grace period that are eligible for a free upgrade, please contact support (link inside the hint box in the store). Your upgrade needs to be unlocked manually. This is not automated yet. I'll do a few of these immediately, but will have to leave office soon. Will continue tomorrow.

I own synfire express, in the shop upgrade option it shows I can upgrade for 136 Euros - when I click through, I'm greeted with:

The required prerequisites for this purchase could not be found.
According to our records, you either do not own the original license to upgrade from, or that license has not been purchased within the required date range, or you have purchased that license using another account.
currently logged in on the original account of purchase.
Am I missing something?- is it not possible to upgrade from express to Synfire V2?

Remidi2 is a basic midi sampler with basic features like transpose and length adjustment. Harmony changing would have to be accomplished in SFP.
Here is a over view.
I looked into Opusmodus a few years ago but didnt pull the trigger.

Very much so. Imported or triggered with a midi keyboard Remidi gives you tons of midi to work with.

Yes, Express doesn't exist yet. The pre-release is a Pro upgrade only at this time. Express and Sparks still need to be completed.
