Help with a chord

Posted

I have a chord progression

C Cdim G Gaug

C Cdim Gaug

Dm  G6 Am Dm

Fmaj7 G2 Am2

By "Am2" - I mean the notes (a,b,c,e)

I started with a C pallette and have added a couple of extra chords. I can't seem to find or create my 'am2'

Does the answer lie in selecting the 5ths wheel and then a pallette from there?

Or is there a direct way?

Thanx

Enter Am(2)

Juergen ... how did you know that and what other 'rules' are there for unusual chord entry?

I didn't know it, I've tried it. I entered Am(add2) first, which also works. But then Synfire automatically has changed the name to Am(2).

There is a catalog of chords (Edit >> Catalog of Chords and Scales...), but I didn't find m(add2) or m(2) there. Looks as if Synfire has some additional chords up its sleeve.

Synfire has some additional chords up its sleeve.

Any chord you want. Just type it.

Explained in the "Syntax" chapter in the manual.

I kept trying to enter it without the (  )'s../

Thanx... I wasm't going to settled for a Am9...

is there a way to make it permanent on song pallette?. I got a bit lost on page 198 about hidden and parked chords.

This part of my harmonic theory is a bit week.. So if we start adding chords to a pallette which don't normally belong, are we going into a related modality?

Is this i mportant?.. Or should I just go about my business and add my off chords..

Since I keep a chord track in Logic.. A A/B it to what SFP generates.. Sometimes the differences are substantial.. Just fixing those chords in SFP brings the song back into line.

It would be nice if there was a import chord progression.. Which can then over ride what SFP calculated..  I often play with Tyros' created slightly different chord detect tracks for individual instument overdubs..  It takes awhle to get used to but,  you can do some clever and sophisticated sruff.  You could do the same in SFP too I imagine with different takes, then inmporting back into a DAW.
