Palette ..showing only chords for a scale

Posted

It is not clear how the pallette system works for me.

I do want to start simple with triads as example and later extend to other chord types

Is it possible than HN2 comes up for a given scale and chord given type ( triads, seventh(7), 9,11, 13 ,,?) with the chords belonging to that scale ?

Example

I choose Cmajor and for triads only ..the palette must me showing these 8 chords ( 7 in fact )

For example i see some chord long progressions and ask myself what chord  are belonging to this key?

I LIKE TO SEE IN THE PALETTE THE CHORDS SURROUNDED WITH A COLERED BORDER THAT BELONGS TO A SPECIFIC KEY

Chords do not belong to a key. They may belong to a number of scales (which is what a palette is already showing).

If you want to know which key best fits a progression, use the menu to find out. There are always many keys possible.

I take triads for Cmajor, because i do want to compose in Cmajor( as example) : what triads are possible on the degrees of this scale?

Suppose i am in HN2 a do want to play live only in Cmajor..what chords to choose?

If i open the palette and start with a Cmaj scale than all the chords on it belong to more major scales
But in this case i do want to know the triads for Cmajor: C-Dm-Em-F-G-....

Ok it brings me on the question : suppose a random  progression ..is it always possible to find a key..yes it it the first chord acting as a tonic and from this you can deduce the scale, but who knows there is modulation somewhere in the progression sequenze..what are the chords belonging to the startscale ?
Can i see all the scales in a random chordprogression?

It should be handy (perhaps ?) to let HN2 determine above the chordprogression what scales are used

Thanks

You see them on the palette. You can remove all other scales from the palette, if you want a pure major scale.

No, you can't. A progression can start anywhere at any harmonic function.

who knows there is modulation somewhere in the progression sequenze

You. Only your ear can decide. The melody can give hints. Select multiple portions of a progression and have HN2 analyze them independently.

That's the case where i am looking for the whole time : how to get the pure scale ? ..what option looking for in HN2?
I hope that there come a easier way to choose the pure scales in HN2

It is not neccessary to show only the triads for a pure scale..seventh,9,11, 13  can also be shown together with the triads
As soon there are 2 triads stacked on a degree there is misunderstanding..wich one is for the pure scale?

Yes, why not start with a random chord in a major scale..say a G what is a dominant triad, but Start with a Gmajor key that G triad is a tonic ..you know that stuff too..because you are supertonic :)

Delete all other scales from the palette. Or double-click on the scale in the catalog.

Select the chord and look at the scale steps highlighted. Or remove extra scales as explained above.

Please can you explain the steps to get the pure Cmajor scale for triads?, but it must work also in general for the whole circle of fifth scales

If i select a scale than triads, seventh, 9,11, and 13 chords for a scale ( less i don't accept :) )
