Hi,
I'm demoing HN2 and I'm really appreciating all its features.
As an HN2 beginner, I'm trying to figure out how to split an imported MIDI file (single instrument) into different sections. My basic goal is to import a MIDI melody line and harmonize it with chords.
These are my steps:
- start a new blank project (with default single "general purpose" section)
- import a single instrument MIDI file in static mode
- create new sections following the MIDI file structure (INTRO, VERSE, CHORUS, BRIDGE)
- for each section, in the instrument page, trim the relative MIDI content for that part
Now, only the first section plays the part and other sections are "mute"
If I manage only one section for the whole file, all goes well...
Probably I'm misunderstanding the basic concepts (I of course read the manual) but I cannot find a solution.
Thanks in advance,
Vernon

Hi Vernon, welcome to the user forum.
Your procedure sounds correct. Do the trimmed parts occur in each section and do they start with the beginning of the section?
Did you import from the "Basis Sketch" pull-down menu, or from the "Phrase" menu?

Hi supertonic,
yes, in Instrument page I:
- select the instrument track and the section
- trim the MIDI content (bottom of the page) leaving only the exact part
- select next section, trim the MIDI content, etc
I've tried both import from "Basis Sketch" and from "Phrase" with the same result.
Probably I could try to first create the exact section sequence and, after that, import the MIDI file with the "span" option...
Thanks, Vernon

Probably I've got it...
If you import a MIDI file in a song with only one section, if you after add other sections the MIDI file is played only for the first one. If you import a MIDI file in a song with at least two sections with the "Span multiple sections" flag, you can manage sections (add, delete, move) without problems.
