Cursor needs to stay put - kbd needs return to start

Posted

When playing a long file, and I see I need to alter a chord, I place the cursor at bar 80.

I switch to the Progression Tab and I have to scroll down to bar 80 to make the change.

I go back to the Arrange Tab and now I have to scroll out to bar 80 to hear the change.

And repeat.....

My wrists do not like all that scrolling.

Can we have an option for the cursor to stay where it's placed until we move it.

Also a Key command to return the cursor and the display to bar 00.

My wrists thank you for your consideration.

Good point. Added it to the list.

On a side note, 80 bars is an extremely long progression. You may be better off with dividing your song into smaller parts (containers), depending on its harmonic structure. This also gives more opportunities for changing harmony locally, which allows for nice effects.

Thanks Andre,

Actually, I am just learning to use containers, that is, what works well and what does not.

If I understand it correctly though, don't containers (or an Alias) still have to be in place on the timeline? Which could still result in a long timeline.

The timeline may be long, but by selecting a container, you will focus on only a part of it. All paramerers inside (incl. Harmony) will be relative so you need no longer scroll that much.

Also you can move the container around for interesting effects.

Right now I am simply experimenting and taking notes to see how things work.

Containers are both powerful and dangerous, so now my learning workflow is:

1. make a copy  of something that works

2. try something new on the copy

3. if it still works, save and repeat

4. If it doesn't, go to the last copy that did and try again
