When you import all files in a directory, after each single imported midi file synfire should do an auto save to the library (only if the library has already a name / is already stored on disk).
Because sometimes after 1-2 hours of importing (without doing anything other, not even outside synfire) synfire shows a runtime error and all imports so far are lost...
