Phrase Import

Posted

I am importing some staccoto midi parts with the default setings into a new library. (horn parts) However, when they are imported Synfire automaticlly adds sustain to the chords and they hang over. How can I stop this on import? Right now I am erasing the sustain parameter and it sucks.

On the third page in the Interpretation parameter there's a checkbox "generate sutain pedal" (or similar). Uncheck that.

There should be no sustain parameter imported unless it is also in the file.

The only reason I could think of is, since the "Generate Pedal" switch is on by default for some keyboard interpretation presets, this might slip into your imported phrase somehow. Will have a look.

EVERYTHING imported defaults to the Keyboards (Mixed) Interpretation preset upon import which by default has the "Generate Pedal" option checked.

Is there a way upon import to change this?

Also, is there a way to batch rename the imported files or to get them to use the name of the original file? As of now it defaults to an instrument name and it's not even the instrument that it was assigned to. To add insult to the process if U change the name it does a "save as" rather than just renames the file. This causes double work because U then have to go though a bach of files with the same name and delete the duplicate.  :-?

For the Generate Pedal issue a patch is online already: Help >> Online Updates.

Naming of phrase pools after files will come with next update.

Is there a way to get the phrase playback in the library to default to the original tempo of the phrase? I really need to hear the way the phrase was intended before I mess with it.

Props 'maddsoul.'

I read every post on the forum, whether it has anything directly to do with me or not.

Once again Andre immediately fixes an issue all would agree needs fixing. Builds my confidence in the program

Once again pearls from Supertonic on how to do something I'm sure I'll want to know how to do sometime in the future.

I'm raising a cup of tea (don't drink alchohol) to Andre and Supertonic for being so forthright and quick in addressing issues.. Once Apple  took over Logic, they would never publically admit, there was a program bug, just leave the user in the dark, wondering if there was a problem, or they were doing something wrong..

A toast and cheers to Cognitone...
