I've been fiddling with the latest demo version for a few days, and I carefully watched the tutorial on song building (Part I and II) too.
So far, I have not exactly understood what are the differences between building a song in Synfire and doing the same with loops and transposition functions in a DAW, let's say, like Logic Pro.
Synfire is quite expensive, but the workflow appears similar if not identical.
Anyone? Or maybe a link to a comparison chart/video between workflows in Synfire vs DAW?

Loops and transpositions with a DAW are fine, but only get you so far. Possible combinations are very limited. Editing or replacing parts of a loop requires you to match all notes with the given harmony manually. This can be very cumbersome for anything more complex than a simple bass line. And then, the part you just created can only be transposed chromatically as a whole. Features like "chord tracks" have fundamental limitations.
With Synfire, you can mix and match almost any source material and edit/replace harmony completely - even using a different speed and rhythm of chord changes - at any time. You can still do that with an already finished song. Moving parts around freely and seeing them adapt to the harmonic context is a great source of inspiration. A DAW can't do that.

An arrangement is much like a recipe. Synfire cooks a new meal for you, each time you change ingredients or procedures. With a DAW, you merely get a kitchen. You'll have to cook the meal yourself ;-)

Thank you Andre, glad to be a newbie! :-) Any improvement/bug fix will be welcome, but the-best-of would be a full video tutorial covering in detail as many functions as possibile. Something like Groove3 or AskAudio or so.
