A midi out recording in Synfire..when possible?

Posted

When it will be possible to record a midi out of a Vsti into Synfire?
First as static notes ..and then later on processed by the musical AI of Synfire

I try to get the midi notes from HAlion5 into Synfire, but another obstacle is the midi output routing in HAlion5 itself
I aspect that there will be a improvement in HALion5 for easy routing midi out of the layered sounds in the near future.

Midi out recording in Synfire is also interesting for other Vsti composers where their midi output can be recorded into Synfire and they are using ( i guess) only one midi channel output what is less complicated then for HAlion5

The midi out of the Vsti in Synfire is routed with the midi cable to a midi in of a second track in Synfire then?
That is your idea ?

As far as i can remember you have to pick a midi device and channel for input. When you click on record which ever 'track'/instrument you have selected will record whats sent down the midi device/channel you have selected. Not sure how well it will work latency wise guess a lot depends on the latency in halion's output to midi and the load on the computer.

This setup means from yours means that HALion 5 is a standalone soundmodule and using a loopback driver and not a VSti.
THe global rack in Synfire don't have a midi in  and midi out from a a Vsti

or hosted in any application that allows halion's midi output to be routed to a midi device

In Cubase it is possible and i am sure that it will be possible also in Ableton live 9 to... but now in Synfire itself?
Recording the midi ouput(s) on a empty midi track(s) in Synfire directly is less work than in Cubase, but it must be first static and then i can process it .

Midi routing for the racks in Synfire is also good for using some vsti composers.

No there is no  (multi) midi output in HALion5 yet, so record the midi out of the Vst is not yet possible

Halion5 is not supporting this  yet
Incredible rich (and complex ) sound in HAlion and to use them as midi phrase in Synfire could be awesome
It is now only possible in HAlion to record the flexphrased midi from a layer ( if it contains one? ) in HAlion5 itself
Can be complicated... suppose you have a 4 layered sound with 2 flexphrased layers... how to get this in Synfire?
It is possible to record a midi sequenze in HAlion...
Suppose layer 1 and 2  is not flexphrased then i play a midi sequenze ..the midi in is the same as the midi out
Suppose layer 3 and 4 are flexphrased .. the midi in is not the same as the midi output.

It is necassary to split the 4 layered sound into Synfire in 4 tracks ..experimenting with this further
