I do have a oxygen25 controllerkeyboard and like to control some synthparameters for a sound (program) in Halion5
Must i assign the controller keyboard as device description for whole HAlion5 or as instrument /sound?
No idea how to control a VSTi parameter in Synfire with a controller...

This is how to use custom controllers for automation:
- Assign a midi CC number to the parameter on the synth or plugin.
- Add a custom controller to the device description, or sound or instrument.
- The label will appear on the parameter block.
- Use that parameter like any CC.

there's a video in the wiki I did showing using midi learn in the vst to do this, although it shows ableton live you should be able to adapt it to cubase (or even the engine I guess).

Thanks, I have seen this video already and can be useful
Still rather complicated what i am want to do as workmethod: should i stay in Synfire or mixed with Cubase
The automations are not real time in the video: do i want do do this with a controller knobs/button/slider in real time?
What setup is best suited for this
Can i do real time automations of a Vsti parameter when i use a synfire drone ( export or transient drone) with a controller ? (oxygen 25 has mapping software "directlink"it maps the 8 quickcontrols in Cubase from HALion5 to the knobs automatically and there is more

Hi jan,
i havent tried it but I guess if you map a controller to the cc number youve configured in synfire, you should be able to record the parameter in using overdub or something. You could even record say the mod wheel then drag the resulting parameter over to the right control/parameter from the mod parameter in synfire.
Also you have the option of recording the controller changes into cubase. that vid i posted shows how to do that from 7:38 although it is for ableton live.

Hi Martyn
thanks.. i must further practice with this
Also for the jean michael jarre lovers : http://www.superwavesynths.co.uk/ a synth dedicated to his style of music
We supply a full range of presets and a selection of tracks in Cubase and MIDI file formats demonstrating the accuracy achieved by this powerful musical instrument.
So Cubase users can benefit from this too
Listen to the music and come back in old times ;) http://www.superwavesynths.co.uk/product_equinoxe_hd.htm ..it Sounds very like the original, very convincing and fun
I try this out in Cubase and Equinoxe 4 song sounds like the original fantastic ..but it is huge vsti : it doesn't fit on my 1920 X 1080 monitor ( you need a bigger screen )
It seems to be not to open on Synfire this Vsti Superwave Equinoxe extreme HD edition?
I make no progression when i try to import a magnetig fields 2.mid enclosed by the VSti as example: the drum import track is repeating itself in a (endless?)loop ..so there is no recognition
(i noticed in Cubase that the sound is stopped time to time on a regular interval from the midi ..it is a demo midi, perhaps makes that that it not can be imported by Synfire? )

Thanks for the Jean Michel Jarre link Jan! I used to love quite a lot of his music. I downloaded the Equinoxe demo and it fits fine on the screen. Perhaps the Extreme HD Edition that you were looking at is not needed? Anyway, some great sounds and it seems like a snip at £39.99. I've just got to test it in Synfire when I get a chance.
I've been messing about playing Oxygene 4 (my personal favourite of his) tonight on my keyboard. Such a simple melody yet very effective!
