Omnisphere single instance (multi).

Posted

Hi there,

To save resources, I have recently set up Omnisphere in my rack as a a aingle multi instrument. Before this I was using a single instamce of Omnisphere for each sound.

When I used single instnaces of Omni I was able to save and reload my songs and all the sounds were correct.

Now when using a multi omniinstrument the last Multi that I am using is always recalled every time I open a project. The multis are not saved with each song.

Is it possible to have Synfire save the multi that I am using with each song and recall it when openeing a saved song?

Thanks for any help with this.

Add the multi instrument to the arrangement rack. You probably added it to the global rack?

Hi wozitcool,

I've just bought Omnisphere.  The price with a free grace-period upgrade to version 2 was too tempting to resist!  I haven't used it yet though, in fact the 6+ hours download of version 2 is currently taking place!

I wonder if you've got any tips for using it in Synfire?  For example, how are you setting up playing ranges, etc?  Are you using stack mode and/or live mode?  Any other useful stuff you've found out about?

Thanks for your time!

Hi petearch,

At the momnet I am using it just in normal multi mode. Although your'e suggestion of using it in stack mode might be worth trying.

I just use the standard playing ranges, appart from the bass, which I sometimes manulay set.

I am bassilcy going through a binge of sound design and programming at the moment and exploring all the new sounds. It is sure a very inspirational synth to behold.

PS

I found the "sound lock" feature in the patch browser to be very usefull.

You find a sound that you dig and then lock in the settings. Then scrool throgh some patches and keep the vibe of the origional sound.

There is also the phrase library hidden away. This features a lot of vocal planet/heart of Africa and other sample sounds.

Thanks for the tips :)

I'm really looking forward to getting to grips with it.  For use in Synfire, I was thinking of setting up a preset with 8 'generic' sounds with large playing ranges to make it easier to audition the patches without having to keep deciding on a category each time.

Then the ranges can be easily overridden at the instrument level in the arrangement once the sounds are settled.

I also thought it would be a good idea to try stack mode having different note ranges accessing different parts, all on the same MIDI channel.  This could produce some really interesting stuff in Synfire!

Anyway, I'll have a look tomorrow as it's still downloading right now and I'll let you know how I get on if you like.
