Hi everyone! As a totaly rookie I will write my first and maby stupid question but probebly not my last one in this forum. My question is that I wish to use Addictive drum to play the drums and import it directly to Synfire. I have successed to put AD into a rack, I got it sounds, sync etc. but Synfire will not record anything. Is that be impossible? I know the drill to create a midi an then import it but it would be so much nicer if Synfire could record the midi directly....

Hi Bo, welcome to the user forum.
If it's a VST, you could enable the Drone for MIDI input in Synfire (the Drone that hosts your plugin). This should make its MIDI output appear at the input of Synfire. With AudioUnits this may not work, as they don't really support MIDI output. This requires to sync Synfire with a DAW and populate it with Drones. Possibly too much distraction if you're just starting out.
MIDI file import isn't that bad: You can import everything in a library, cleanup and organize it there and have it ready for use in an instant. If you recorded into an arrangement first, you'll be doing a lot of cut/copy/paste until your material is ready to use in a library.

Hi Andre and thanks for your reply, I will try this and report how it works. But I have an number of other issues and I post them here as I don’t now if they are bugs in the software or bugs in my poor knowledge.
1. I have always got a problem to run Logic in together with synfire. Basically it works but a strange ghost sound is always in the background. The sound is a low frequency sound at pretty high volume and it change from time to time. Pressing Reset or Panic does not stop the sound. The only way is to stop Logic. The setting in Inputs does not seems to affect the problem.
2. I have added Alchemy synt as an AU and most of it works but I have several issues:
a. The volume control in matrix or the Global instrument does not work. The gain control in the Global rack windows does however work.
b. The sound banks in alchemy are working so so. Often I need to open the plugin to choose the right sound and after that it could work. It seems that an update statement are not working, as it should. In the perspective of Global Rack everything seems to working fine. The problems starts in the arrangement windows and in the Palette
3. The major problem I have got is with the palette ... It seems to be totally random and totally f... up. Often when I click the play button, it starts the addictive drum sequencer and no other sounds. Sometimes I have a bass. The keyboard in the windows plays with a sound I haven’t expected. Clicking on the chords in the palette just starts the drums again. Sometimes I have the different built in sketches to play but not as supposed. In Chords only mode I have always just the drums.
I have found the tab Internal sound, are empty. Has that something to do with this?
Sorry but I am really confused and have been struggling a long time now so all help is appreciated!

Another day of testing and learning. I have found one mistake by myself. Somewhere during the testing I have unchecked the Instant Feedback in the palette, sorry. I have also found out that the UVIWorkstation VST is causing the problem with the drums etc. It seems that this VST interferes with other plugins.

Thanks for the update about the hum.
The volume control in matrix or the Global instrument does not work. The gain control in the Global rack windows does however work.
The volume slider merely generates CC 7 MIDI messages. You need to make the plug-in respond to CC 7 in order to control its output volume. The Gain slider affects the audio mix (sum only), but keep in mind that it can not be automated. It's for a static pre-mix only.
Often I need to open the plugin to choose the right sound and after that it could work. It seems that an update statement are not working, as it should.
This could be a bank selection problem. Be sure sound bank numbers are selected properly and that the device description of Alchemy matches the sound banks actually found in your plug-in. The copy that comes with Logic may be different from the freely available copy that was used to create the DD (device description).
The major problem I have got is with the palette
The play button on the Palette tab starts playback of the whole arrangement at the currently selected container. So what you get depends on where your playhead was before you switched to the palette.
I have found the tab Internal sound, are empty.
You won't need internal sounds. That's merely a thing used internally (as the name implies). Better hide it from the View menu and not get confused.
