I'm working with a MIDI loop in Cakewalk. I need to develop the idea further, and so want to import it into Synfire to morph it a bit and perhaps have Synfire suggest some harmony changes.
So I need to get the MIDI into Synfire in such a way that it initially sounds like it does when I'm working with in Cakewalk.
It seems to me that importing the loop as static pitches should do this, but it in fact doesn't. The results bear a passing resemblance to the origingal MIDI, but not really all that close.
And the key has changed after import. I see there's a field to specify the key when importing, but that field won't allow me to enter anything. So my F Maj Cakewalk MIDI is now in Db in Synfire. That is not conducive to making comparisons.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

which color do the figures have after import? if not brown, they are not static

The figure are multi-colored.
Thie video apparently teaches how to import static pitches, but I have been unable to do it in such a way as to actually end up with static pitches

OK, I think it worked this time. I had to check the box for General MIDI Standard, although I'm not sure why.
And the figures are more like a gold color, if that's what you meant by brown.
