Variatons - On/Off or Muting

Posted

Hi,

Can Variations be turned on/off (or muted)?

Scenario:  I have a Figure, or Container.   I apply Variations.   Now I want to hear the original Figure again to compare it against those specific Variations.   Then I want to hear those specific Variations again, back-and-forth etc.    IOW, I do not want to delete/destroy the Variations until I choose to do so.

How is this accomplished?

Ah, I see I can activate/de-activate containers for the purpose of A/B testing.  Great!

Still, for the record, can Variations be turned on/off (or muted)?

For that matter, the question really applies to any parameter.   Can we mute/disable them without deleting/destroying them?

To me, this seems immediately desirable.

Create a child container. Put the variation in there. By making this child container active the variation will sound and the original phrase will play when it's disabled. When you are happy with the variation, drag the parameter into the original container and delete the child. This works with pretty much any parameter.

Sorry didnt see your second post and can't work out how to delete my comment.

Use the embedded library as a clipboard. Just drag the parameters you want to keep or compare to the library, then drag them back as needed.

Thanks.

When I drag the harmony to the embedded library, I get undesired playback.

Can you tell me how to make that specific operation silent?

I mean, it seems I can turn off Instant Feedback, but I don't want that off in general (so far).

I just don't want to hear it when I drop something into the library for clipboard purposes as you describe.

Good point. Feedback is not really necessary when something is added to the library.
