Random audio cutting out

Posted

Second night this has happened, win10, 2.5.1b2 & 2.5.0b6. The audio will cut out shortly after pressing play after an edit, this is a good 20-30 minutes into a session, the first time I did an audio reset which didn't fix it, I then closed the engine and restarted it and that fixed it, in this version it just froze, the screen went gray and there was no crash notification. Luckily the crashbackup worked.

Does this mean the audio stream is dead as a whole, or are just notes not being played (other instruments and already triggered notes still audible)?

Synfire drops all notes that happen to arrive more than 200ms late in an engine or drone. It never drops note-off though (to avoid dangling notes). An extreme delay of 200ms or more should be extremely rare, e.g. when some other process or network congestion slows down communication.

All audio stopped working, though I have not experienced it since the post, I'm leaning towards suspecting a plugin might have caused this, I will keep an eye on this and report on this thread as I did not encounter this in the last 2 or so sessions that I have ran. In the meantime I have attached a file that refuses to open and my suspicion again is because of a plugin, i tried to roll back a version or so but still will not open, I have another computer with an older copy of synfire so I may try to recover it from there when I get the need to work on that song.

The most current version of Synfire should always be able to open all files saved with earlier versions.

In an emergency, support can come to the rescue and open a file and re-save it for you.

Yes, I uploaded a .cognac that would not open, but I have another copy which I have marked with the version number which probably means I had this problem earlier and did some kind recovery on it, so I will keep working from that, maybe if you look at the file you'll find the error that was being cause, or perhaps not due to the plugin being the suspect, anyway, no need as I have a version I a going to be working off of. Thanks for the help.

That email didn't seem to arrive here. Can you send it again to support at cognitone dot com

Oh it was not email. it was a .cognac attached to the first or second post in this thread with a non public attachment(unclicked display checkbox), unless I have made an error.. I am sending it again on this post.
