parameter reset

Posted

Hello to All of you there!

I am having lots of fun with the program. Thanks Cognitone!!!!

A question here.

Having a developed arrangement with many containers and instruments and many parameters assigned to those, is there a way to rest all of the parameters to the default state (for all or selected instruments) just by one or two clicks?

Would there be a possibility to have a separate screen listing all used instruments and their parameters allowing for some actions like enable, disable, reset to default etc.?

Another thing,
I do not know if it is a good idea but I would like to shear with people a small simple piece of music made possible by this magic program. Nobody does thing like that here, all discussions are very technical but in the end the music is what matters.
Best Regards
Andy

Hi Andy,

your music is much welcome! We appreciate any contribution that can help get a musical disussion going. BTW, which synths are you using?

Regarding your question: "Reset to default" actually is the same as "delete" ;-) Check out the option "View >> Parameter Explanations". This will show a small summary for each parameter where it is set, so you can quickly find the containers and phrases to edit.

Andy,

Love it - great piece of music!

And, as Andre says, what was the instrumentation, please? Impressive piano sound!

Andre!

Thank you for the answer. I was trying this function a lot but what I find is that having many containers and instruments makes it necessary to jump form one to another to find what is adjusted where.
You advise in the manual or somewhere to avoid spreading parameters across containers. But in fact this is what I find so amusing and exciting about Synfire. I can get the sound I like by doing what you do not recommend. So, if there is more orderly way, I will have to find it. Ordnung must sine… he he he…

So, my suggestion still would be to extract this information and put it on one page to allow controlling it from one place.

When it comes to the sound… now a small surprise…
I am on the road in Brazil with my laptop. Here I have rather simple things only.
Wusik Station 5 VSTi from www.wusik.com. This one plays piano and acoustic bass.
Then comes simple GM MIDI player - Virtual Sound Canvas Ver.3 (VSC) form Roland obsolete by Roland and only available with Band in a Box from www.band-in-a-box.com.
- plays drums and trumpet.

I did not touch the key board doing this small piece!

Composing – Synfire form (http://cognitone.com/)

MIDI adjusting (very little), mixing and wave rendering in EnergyXT2.5 from www.energy-xt.com

Compression 2:1, normalisation and mp3 conversion done with Audacity – free audio editor from (http://audacity.sourceforge.net).
By the way, mastering with head phones is not exactly good idea.

So, if you find this sound interesting any way, then, I think it is mainly thanks to Synfire capabilities.
Working with all available parameters – I love INTERPRETATION – brought sound to life!
Articulation rendered to the MIDI file by Synfire is really something.

I can hardly wait to come back home. There I have Total Studio 2 Bundle from www.ikmultimedia.com and Cubase from www.steinberg.net.
