Although we want to support this, we don't know of any other software that places its midi data on the system clipboard. Copy and paste usually uses the internal memory of the respective application. Hence there is no way to access it.
Which application do you want to use?

Band in a box allows midifiles storage in clipboard.
Would be nice of course to exchange directly.

Odd I was thinking the same thing last night.
In using synfire I'm finding that I'm creating a LOT of midi files to go back and forth between apps.
I don't know if the clipboard would work, but if not, it would be great to have a midi drag and drop functionality into synfire.
I'd love to be able just use the last import settings and skip the whole import process when its not necessary (for single line monophonic static pitch parts which is usually what I've been bringing in)
