I'm not sure how to explain this, so I made a video. I opened HN, switched to plain chords, and tried to record a progression. As you see in the video, i hear a metronome, which eventually stops, and what i played isn't recorded. Am I doing something wrong?

Originally HN was designed to be used with accompaniment patterns only, therefore it does not exactly behave as one would expect in chords-only mode. The next version will have these issues fixed.
The solution for version 1.6.1 is to use an accompaniment pattern that simulates chords-only through appropriate interpretation settings. I have attached an example pattern document for you (see below). Place it in you Harmony Navigator/Config/Patterns folder.
The video shows how to use it.

I had the same problem ,spending hour of searching for solution to do this...but even if you can do this i think you cannot loop the chord progression. So when you're searching for chord progression it make it extremly complicated.
I might be wrong ,maybe some body can help!
What i like to archive is :
-being able to loop chord progression and change live some chord or being able to try different setting(inversion...)
-once i find progression i like ,being able to add bass or extend the chord(some program like harmony improvisator , max for life patch 'Schwarzonator.'are doing this.)
-then play melody or arpegiator on the same scale ,that mean my sequence will follow in harmony the chord progression(i know it's possible with HN)
Thank's for your help!
Stephane.
PS: where do i find the Navigator/Config/Patterns folder!!

Yep, this would be totally awesome!
And I'm sure that the harmony engine is capable of doing this, but the question is that HN2 will contain this or it will remain in the scope of Synfire?
