I'd like to see the pause parameter in the arrange page as I create it, so I know when to cut out for other passages.
I would also like to see velocities of different tracks. When working on some parameter it is beneficial to also see what other instruments are doing.. Logic can for instance open as many windows as you want to view data in different ways, to help you in defining your piece.
I'm kinda running into a wall, cause SFP cannot give me the exact precsion I need with lengths, velocities, slight variations in time etc. that I can get with Logic.. To me a piano track with each note a slightly different velocity, length, start time (easily done with Logic's transform functions)
Hence the back - forth. Not that I particularly mind that - as long as the transition import/export/import is smooth, and accurate.
This again brings us to the overall description of 'What is SFP' where do it's control boundaries lie?. Synfire Pro has the power of a hacksaw cutting into softwood and sculpturing beautiful things.. But it lacks some really fine delicate tools ( or mayble I'm still missing something)
Each of us here, has certain issues we would like to see addressed. It's up to Andre and the code what is going to work well.. You want a sleek, clean efficient program, not some overbloated to suit everyones need.
Band In a Box is a good example of something gone awire = It can do some nice tricks, but the programming looks like it's from the 80's.. And they just keep tacking more code, features and buttons onto it, making it even more confusing.. It's amazing it works as well as it does.. I suppose they figure for what it is, and the price, it's not worth, rewriting the software.

Did you try this switch (left box)? Select it and then select each parameter you want to see. You can also select multiple parameters at the same time, holding down the Command key (CTRL on Windows).
To me a piano track with each note a slightly different velocity, length, start time (easily done with Logic's transform functions)
No need to fiddle with notes. Check out the Shift parameter for timing variation abd the dynamics macros on the Transform menu for Velocity. Both are great for humanizing midi data non-destructively.

For a while i am confused about how assigning a parameter.
Well as example i do have in the phrase editor a pattern and want use the SHIFT parameter ( it is empty for now the parameter tickbox ).. the TRANSFORM menu .. shows all greyed out and ( Shift not assigned)
How to assign now the SHIFT parameter to the vector ?

There is nothing to transform, when a parameter is empty. Therefore the Transform menu is greyed out. First you have to draw a vector for the shift parameter (with the pen tool or the line tool). Then you can transform it with the commands at the Transform menu. See enclosed gif.

There is nothing to transform, when a parameter is empty.
Sounds logical, but i don't get this information from the manual and can't look under the hood of SFP/E
I think a good point to emphasize for working with parameters: you need first have a vector ( that is.. you must first draw a parameter line/curve ) to do the actual tranformation(s).
In a (mathematical )way you can see this as a startvector where you apply transformation on it.( reminds me to vectoralgebra )
And for template see parameter ..now get the 2 neighbouring menu's ..new meaning for me

The Hyper edit mode ( to use only for 3 parameters: Velocity , Length and Step ) is also possible for velocity curve drawing
I'll play with the velocity transform controls some more. I did a while back.. But I would much rather have the ability to do it by hand sometimes (takes a long time). But I'll give that command a 2nd look..

Thank you Supertonic; I 'more than forgot' about that key (display parameters?). I would LOVE to see that with different parameters in color, to get a better overview.. That's exactly what I was talking about..

YEAH - I can make use of the shift parameter - Some of it is too blatant for my taste. IS there or to control the amount of it - or render it in, then edit it a bit?
it would be nice if it when you selected the Shift command, you had options to it. use subdivisions of measure; highlight sections and give them a %'s that were a bit more assignable, assignable by voicing position, random etc.
I tried creating several small shift containers and placing them along the length of song.. very nice indeed.

With a program of this complexity, a user can only grasp a few ideas, a bit at a time. After they are clearly defined in the users mind, he is then ready to absorb more.. I've read the manual twice all the way thru, and referred to it.. But is' like you won't get point C unless Point A and B are real clear to you.
