I have a need for some really long notes in some of my tunes but this appears to cause issues with synfire.
The longest note duration you can enter in the parameter settings appears to be 4/1. Playing in longer notes sort of works except the display gets screwed up and the moment you try to edit the phrases it really seems to get confused.
This might seem like a really obscure request but there would be no 'wish you were here' album if Pink Floyd had used synfire to write shine on crazy diamond.
I've posted a couple of crash reports from my attempts to import that particular song, I'm not sure that the problem though was the length as the track names appeared corrupt when viewed in synfire's import window.

I'd like to see a key switch, maybe Command/ Control, that temporarily releases the drawing tool from the selected grid ... or any where else where grid is enforced.
This may already be possible, but notes (phrase segments) should be editable from either the left or the right ends to shorten or lengthen from either direction independent of the grid.
