64Bit MAC Drone

Posted

Hi,

From what I can see there is no 64bit VST drone plugin for Mac OS X yet? Will there ever be one and if its coming when might it arrive?

Iam very successfully using Live 9.1 32bit and the 32bit Drone in midi only mode. To export from Synfire I simply record into a midi clip. The timing is usually perfect and from there I can freeze then flatten into a audio sample.

I need to move to 64bit Live on Mac but then it seems only AU version of the Drone plugin is available and this doesn't support midi only option.

Do I have this right? Is there any 64bit MAc Vst in sight?

64 bit VST does not work because lack of Carbon support for 64 bit on the mac.

You can use AU drones and still load your VST plugins.

Hi Supertonic,

Thanks for pointing it out, youre right in a way.

However, Iam not using the drone to host a Vst. I'am using midi only mode and routing that to a plugin hosted in a live track. That way I can easily use Push (or any other controller) to switch presets and control parameters.

Actually with the plugin hosted inside the drone its not possible to automated the plugins parameters further in live since they are hidden behind the drone interface.

The only way I know of would be to have midi out from the drone plugin i.e. 64bit Mac Vst. Totally understand the Carbon issue but it has to happen some time ..  no? Otherwise Synfire is a island drifting off, stuck in 32 bit land for Mac Vst users.

No worries. This is on my radar. It should be possible, however only for Cocoa based plugins. I'll try next time I get around to the drone code.

Andre, thanks for getting back on this. Really happy to know its on the radar. Drones would be perfect for me then.
