Always problem synfire 3 & cubase integration for windows

Posted

I'm having trouble establishing communication between Cubase and Synfire Pro 3 for windows 11. I would appreciate it if you could check and update the previously prepared documentation. Thank you.

The code for external synch hasn't changed in a long time. Last time we tested it worked with Studio One  (now Fender Studio), Cubase Pro, Logic Pro X, Bitwig, Ableton Live, Reaper, and many other DAWs. It is very unlikely that any of these DAWs has significantly changed their MTC, MMC or MIDI Clock code. This is old tech that nobody wants to touch (unless it's broken).

It is more likely that your setup misses some important setting. Have you checked against the instructions we published?

Do your MIDI loopback ports work?

That said, we will have another look at Cubase 15 specifically.

Thanks for your reply, Andre. Maybe the problem is with the virtual MIDI driver for windows 11. I'm using (LoopBe internal MIDI). Could you recommend a virtual MIDI driver that you've tested and that we can use between Synfire Pro and DAW? It's not a problem for Mac. My system was previously a Mac and IAC driver was installed, but I can't find a working virtual MIDI driver for Windows. Thanks again.

Just a "heads up" - Microsoft has begun rolling out Windows MIDI Services for Win11.

All users will be getting the update, in waves.

It's a much-improved system at the core, but some people (inc. moi) are experiencing various issues with legacy gear and apps.

Lots of info can be found on the Dischord:

-Maybe- this is already affecting your situation, but it's need-to-know info in any case.

Cheers!

Re: Loopback drivers

If you're on the latest Windows 11 25H2 with the new MIDI Services rollout, the built-in Microsoft loopback is the most future-proof option. If you're on an older build, loopMIDI or LoopBe1 should still work. Just be aware they may need workarounds once the new MS MIDI stack arrives on your machine.

You might see a clash between the two. Try uninstall loopBe and other loopback drivers and test MS own?
