It seems Library sometimes gets stuck using GM instruments of auditioning. I'm pretty sure I've use T4 before.. I successful set up global instrument to T4 piano, yet when I select Global insstrument to audition library phrases I get the GM. When I select T4=all as device. If I select a catagory, there are no insruments in it.
Since OSX 10.7.3 all GM instruments are about 1/20 the volume they used to be rendering them useless. Usually the noise is 3 times louder than the midi notes.
I set up global instruments to play T4, but when i select global the library audition, it still plays the extremely hissy GM, and then it's only the drums, no matter what I do.
NOTE - 20 minutes later I added a 2nd device description Tyros4.clone.. For some reason my device T4 - ALL won't let me set it as global. But often I have to resort to it in arrange page instruments - cause SFP locks out all but midi channel 1.. I know I must be misunderstanding something.

You can disable (disconnect from the device) the QuickTime GM Synth altogether, because the T4 provides sufficient GM sounds.

This happens when a device is not recognized as multi-timbral. Be sure you activate more than 8 channels for "dynamic use" on that device and Synfire will see it is multi timbral.
