Bounce to Disk does not create file (Synfire 3 Pro, Windows 11)

Posted

Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue with Bounce to Disk in Synfire 3 Pro (latest update installed).

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Click on the “Bounce to Disk” icon.
  2. Press Play – audio is heard correctly during playback.
  3. Press Stop.
  4. Check the selected output folder → no audio file is created.

There is no error message. It simply does not generate the file.

Important detail:
It has worked occasionally in some moment, but then it stops working again without any configuration changes.

System:

  • Synfire 3 Pro (latest version)
  • Windows 11

Has anyone experienced this behaviour?
Could this be related to permissions, temporary folder issues, or background rendering settings?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve figured out what was happening.

It seems that Bounce to Disk only works when a container is selected. If you simply make a time selection in the timeline (without an active container), no audio file is created.

After realizing this, I redesigned the arrangement and structured it using proper containers instead of relying on time selections. Now I can export the audio without any issues. As a side effect, this actually improved the overall structure of the project and made the workflow cleaner.

Hope this helps anyone running into the same confusion.

Synfire captures the selected container. Selecting the root container should also work though
