I have been reading the manual and searching the web but can't seem to find an answer.

Yes, you can create phrases.
Although you can't edit them, except using the span tool for cut, copy & paste.
This is how to create phrases:
- Record or import MIDI takes
- Use span tool to trim to desired size
- Create a new library using the Figure parameter's user interface.
- Grab the instrument name and drop it on the library.
This way you can build a collection of phrases to re-use later.

Thank you I'm trying figure it out. I am making headway. I wish the documentation for HN was a bit clearer.
