Cherrypicker a MIDI patchfile editor for OSX..but not for Windows 7 ?

Posted

I try to make my own devicesetup in HN2 ..and there are  .midnam and .xls (not xml!)  files involved ?
As example i saw the TYros 2 midnam zip : voicelist-tyros2.xls and Yamaha Tyros2.midnam files

The voicelist-tyros2.xls format based document is for describing MIDI devices "patch names" (and there is no programming involved : no decissions to make with if -statement here), because it is like html..working with elements= tags e.g <element></element> , but perhaps in the  .midnam there is some programming in involved?

2 fileformats used and try to figure out if this is necessary for a device setup in general or that only for HN2/SFP  a .xls is sufficient?

So i must figure what these 2 fileformats (xls and .midnam ) stands for ...
Well i use Dreamweaver MX for that and add the file extension to the preferences menu..now i can open both files

Tricky , because the VSTidevices in a another program uses the .xml format and for yamaha Tyros 2 it is .xsl format
In SFP and HN2 it is probabaly the  .xml format and how about the TYROS4 for the voicelist format ?: uses it also yet  a .midnam + .xls format or is this obsolete ?

Is there a dedicated windows 7 MIDI patchfile editor to find ? ..or can i do it in the  HTML editor Dreamweaver too
But why it is so handy to use a dedicated MIDI patchfile editor (Cherrypicker) for OSX..it means a disadvantage if you are working with windows ( i know that MAC is used in the professional music studio's)
Can MarkStyles uses the cherrypicker patchfile editor for his TYROS 4 ??

You don't need CherryPicker.

Import the midnam file (any you can get for your hardware) with Synfire and edit the description there.
