Hi
The keyboard shows the currently playing chord or the vertical scale. You can open multiple instances of this panel and configure them in different ways.
I would really appreciate if you can make it possible to output the currently playing chord and the vertical scale via a midi port and via the drones

yes it would useful if we had this ( + Bass too ) in the setup...
there is no automatic way to doing this yet ..but..
you can use two instruments to send this chord + scale datas from your SFP arrangement to DAW
chord is easy just pick the Interpretation: Auto Chords for one of this two instruments
for the scale i am attaching a library file "Probers" its has what i use for same tasks:
send scales Vertical + Horizontal to DAW.

An output of the basic chords (and bass) are needed to drive style generators in arranger kbds.. They would also be useful for soft or hardware arpeggios. And obviously come in useful on the new version of Cubase..
Yes, I think they would be a good idea also.. You can chord analyze, in Logic (other Daws too") and put these in the markers of your song, or in the score directly..
SFP chord detect often misinterprets a chord.

At some time you have to leave Synfire and continue work in your DAW.
Sometimes I use Reason and somtimes Ableton or both. Just because I leave Synfire does not mean the arrangement is finished, so if I deside to change something or I want to add more then it is nice to have both chords and scales on 2 different tracks (no sound). The fact is that when I use Synfire then I use chords and scales I do not normally use. That is why I would like to have it in Reason.
I also have a dream about using QuNexus to showing me the chords and scales insted of having to look at the monitor

The ultimate would also be some changes in the Drones like in the attached picture.
If you change to chords, then you can drag the chords midifile to the DAW and the same goes for the scales and they will ofcourse be shown on the keyboard and be sent out via midi.

What I've been doing lately, is doing the bulk of work in synfire, exporting out/ importing into Logic. I work in Logic, editing, playing some parts whatever..
At somepoint, I decide I want a part, that's beyond my technical ability (had a stroke, it's slowed my hands)... I keep the original file of SFP and create a part in there and export that part only back into Logic..
Kind of like Synfire Pro A La Carte.. Or I might take my overzealous organ solo, import into phrase of same song in SFP part, and work on that..Then export that one phrase back into Logic..
That way I don't have the long hassle time, of getting everything to sound exactly the same again.
Oh year I import into SFP all channels static, I also sometimes have to hand replicate the chord progression, cause SFP makes some wrong assumptions..
I then also import the song into a library with and without static import. Now I have every phrase, in either genre. It comes in handy.. Sometimes You want a section of the song to be exactly the same, othertimes, a variation is welcomed. I've also imported/ tweaked file in SFP, ported over to Logic, working on it and then importing that into SFP a 2nd time with recognition.. The song really migrated into something interesting..
Let's face it some of us 'long time DAW users' are gonna want a lot more intricate control of things than SFP will be able to offer (without it turning into a DAW) itself.. So this process of going back/forth between SFP/DAW is inevitable..
I've had little luck with drones, got to work once.. The delay between the two applications was disturbing, And I don't want to spend more time trying to figure it out.. So I'm going with the export/import.
Each one of us here has expressed some aspect of a problem, others don't have.. So people are going to begin using SFP in a much wider variety, that Andre may have originally intended..
Portablity, compatibility to other music software is a must. I've experimented with SFP driving the Yamaha Tyros 4 style generators without using Logic at all.. That will be a usefull avenue for me.. Even though recording into SFP feels a little klugy to me, (you don't know if you're really recording, until finished). I'm liking the results, cause I can immediately manipulate them incredibly, something you can't do in a daw..
