Contrapuntal motion ...how to do?

Posted

I studied the demo example : Rachels Radiation
Two flutes (contrapuntal i think ) and a piano together
The flutes are imported by a  midifile.
Composing 2 contrapuntal melodylines is a rather complex by hand, so automated by software is ideal.

In music theory, contrapuntal motion is the general movement of two melodic lines with respect to each other. In traditional four-part harmony, it is important that lines maintain their independence, an effect which can be achieved by the judicious use of the four types of contrapuntal motion: contrary motion, similar motion, parallel motion, and oblique motion.

This brings my on the question how about a contrapuntal module in SFP ? for modern composing
Not a easy task to perform for Cognitone, but  they are lovers of classic music.so this feature attracts also classic composer for their software.

For composing to write for 2 melodylines contrapuntal can give more composing freedom

( such a contrapuntal module must be capable to do more than 2 melodic lines )
Capella software( also from Germany ) has a program : tonica ..

What is a contrapuntal module supposed to do what a composer can not do by arranging figures?

If your target people are only serious classical composers for using Synfire pro than they do have the skills for contrapuntal composing.

Are they serious music enthousiasts, than it should be better if the contrapuntal composing is done by automating this.

Do you have studied those rules for contrapunctal composing ? ... a tough challence seems to me..i did
Interesting ..yes..there torrents enough to find about this subject and go wild with it. :)
First i thought you have 4 movements of melodic lines opposite eachother..and so on , but Johann Joseph Fux has in his book Steps to Parnassus a pupil who he support in his discoveries of the contrapunctal movement to start with 2 melodic lines..and encourage him and give him advise to get the right knowledge from the master Joseph Fux to learn contrapunctal movement.
I studied also some modern papers about this subject against the medieval treatise of this subject from Joseph Fux
Well .. i get again interested to look again to this subject, and i am now doing practice exercises with the phrase editor right now.
At least 2 melodic lines to learn?

Contrapuntal movement is already  there when you start composing with a melody and add a bass
