Correction for auto-bass

Posted

I use the auto-chords and auto-bass for a chord progression.
Problem here is that some auto bass chord tones sound too low, so I need to correct them: but how ?

- It would be handy if the structure screen and overview screen could be opened simultaneously to see what to change.
- It would be nice to add a 5th chord tone on top of the auto-chord.

- Summarize the auto chords and auto bass ( + possible extra 5th chord tone) in a figure for 1 instrument

Makes it easier to make 5 tone chords

Adding a auto-chord is a triad
Adding abass-chord is doubling the root note chord of the triad from the auto-chords

A new feature adding in Synfire ? : top-chord : adds a chord note above the triads from the aut-chords

Note: in my example for ensemble chords  : the top note of the triad and the chord tone a bove the top note of the triad could be manualy by me chanced in order to give a more intense feel to the chord progression.

cant you alter the pitch of the autobass by changing the playing range or 'sweet spot' of the bass instrument?

I would like it better if synfire would put the auto -chord and auto bass on 1 track for me so it becomes 1 figure.

In my case, there are only a few notes whose pitch needs to be changed because they sound too low and create a hum sound
I can't select these notes yet.

Snapshot the bars or render (extract from midi output) the two instruments then combine them into one track so you can edit the rendered figures. Although I find changing the playing range a lot simpler to do and more flexible.

< then combine them into one track so you can edit the rendered figures.

I find that all too laborious.
Better is for Synfire to merge these 3 tracks into 1 figure for me.

top-note
chord-notes
bass-note

Repeat it again:
- a top-note provision
- merge the 3 chord parts

If I have a figure , then a bass note that is too low can be corrected in this way.

As a 3rd facility the possibility to pull off the output tab in order to have the structure screen and the output screen next to each other.
Change in a track in a figure is then seen in the output screen

If a 5 note chord can be made in Synfire and shown in 1 track, nothing stands in the way to make really emotional intensive chords with for example ensemble strings

or alternatively just draw a vertical line with 5 notes, which is the simplest existing solution. That might not stop the 'bass' note being too low though as it still depends on the playing range of the selected instrument.

Seems more convenient if Synfire also comes up with 5-note chords with 1 mouse click,  instead of going to draw the chords
With output and structure screens open at the same time I can change chords

You have to draw 1 chord in 1 bar, that's all. Takes less time to do than it does to describe the process. One click and vertical drag. Do a short drag and get a 3 note chord, longer drag for a 4 note, 5,6,7 note chord.

Seems more convenient if Synfire puts the auto-chords and auto-bass on 1 track in a figure. Later, I can then add more chord tones.

Plus the possibility in Synfire to be able to put the structure screen and output screen side by side.
Maybe the possibility to see both screens in 1 screen and is sufficient for the chords if they can be put in 1 track ( auto chord and auto bass )
