Drum sound changes from library to arrangement.

Posted

Included is a short movie.  When I audition a phrase in Library, it sounds fine.  When I move it to an arrangement, the kick changes to a tom, and the reverb changes.

AUDIO-MIDI setup is Tyros 4 Room drum set.  It does not change from library to arrange.  The reverb changes. On Tyros it is set at to a modest amount, yet the library and arrangement are both sending to MIDI channel 10.

Why does this do this?,  is it a bug, or is there a way for me to work around it?

thanx

What I can see from your video, is that you have non-static symbols in the phrase (blue, green and magenta symbols), not the static brown symbols, which are required for drum tracks. Maybe you did not use the correct setting at the MIDI import, when you created the library?

No when I imported them they were static drums I'm positive of that.  I'll try turning them into brown signals in arrangement and see if that helps. I seem to have issues when importing a midi file to library. I play the midi file first, it sounds correct.. Sometimes  on library phrase playback, they are wrong. other times they are fine.

So I'm overlooking something there. Don't know what yet.  Did someone mention the library audition phrases are supposedd to be GM..  Most of the time they are Tyros 4, which is what I want..

A library is not restricted to GM sounds. It can use any sounds. They will resolve to what is currently available on your shared rack when you play them.

Your drum phrase is not static, as juergen noted correctly. Have a look into the phrase pool and you'll see.

Thanx...duh... So when I change the notes to static (brown).. the correct sounds will appear again... Will check later.

Switching a dynamic figure to brown symbols in hindsight does not work.  It needs the original pitches. You need to create the figure from its original take using a "static" recognition setting.

I definitely imported them static into the library.  Yet when I moved th phrase to a track, the colors (hence changed sound happened).

There's no tranposing into range on static instruments is there?  From the library the drum phrase plays fine. it's when I drag into an instrument track.  Can you preset the instrument to static before you use it.  Do I go to take and set it for static before I drag part onto the track?  (software off now - I'll try that tomorrow)

When you listen to the two versions, The kick has turned into a tom and the reverb is brought up. it was a new freshly created track with nothing altered yet.

That brings another issue, it would be nice if you could audtion library phrases with the sound form the arraangement, when you want. Select the string track, and then audition maybe guitar lines that sound as strings.

You've got an infinite complexity piece of software here>    (:-)

I definitely imported them static into the library.

I doubt that. Please check the library. Dragging a phrase to the arrangement does not change it's figure. That would defeat the purpose of a library.
