Exporting Containers to Logic Pro X

Posted

Is there really no way of getting LPX to recognize SFP export MIDI files (with all the meta information included) as either Arrangement or Marker tracks? It of course is no problem with the MIDI instruments showing up as tracks, but I want chords exported as Markers and Containers as Arrangements (I know that LPX eliminated Chords track). BTW drag and drop does not seem to work so this is only with explicit file exporting. Also, reading this exporteed MIDI file into Digital Performer is no problem, the chords show up in Conductor track.

I have no issues exporting D&D to Logic Pro X.

Be sure you tap the spacebar once you are moving over Logic. Drag the container name on the instrument sheet (not the structire view) in Synfire to Logic for plain meta data, like chord names. Enable chord names and structure information on the "Notation" tab of the inspector in arrange view.

I think I'm doing it right, but no luck.

By "container name in instrument sheet" you mean the "Test With LP" in Blue in Fig1? where also you see I have notation with container structure, etc clicked.

And yes I hit spacebar once when dragging to LP

And when clicked on the instrument itself in Fig2, I have chord symbols etc clicked.

Note that I'm trying to get chord/containers info  into LP (how should they show up - as markers or arrangement track in LP?) . It doesn't have to be via D&D. MIDI export from SFP to LPX would be fine too.

Yes

Drag the above container name 'track' and you will see text marker MIDI events in the midi region of LP.

Nope, no luck.

It seems to me (from trying this and from looking on the web) that there is no way to import any kind of marker or chord symbols into LPX. In LP9 there was - since there was a chord track. But I can find no reference to anyone ever importing such a thing into LPX.

Now since you assure me it is not only possible but in fact you are doing it, it must be that there is some fundalemental misunderstanding on my part here. Is it possible for you post a screen shot of LPX with chords/markers - however they appear after import?

Also - D&D is not important to me; importing via files will do - I have not been able to import anything via D&D from Synfire, but via files it is straightforward.

And importing the MIDI files with that chords imbedded show up in Digital Performer (in the conductor track) easily and nice - so it is not a Synfire issue really but a Logic Pro X issue.

Thanks for looking into this.
