Exporting the project

Posted

I created a song project with several containers.  In the primary container, I had several instruments that played for 83 bars. I created additional containers, which contained 'variations' of the instrument parts.  This all plays fine.

When I export I get several tracks which are the same instrument which contained the variations (acoustic guitar variations at measure 17, 48, 73, etc)

Is there a way to 'flatten' one instrument part, so that all variations are contained in the one instrument.  As a result in Logic, I had to cut/paste the correct parts.

I'm not sure I fully understand from your description how your project is structured. Did you put all variations into the same instrument? If not, doing so will merge everything onto a single export track. Only one midi file track is created per instrument.

Or do you just want to get rid of the nested containers? This can be done with snapshots: Create a new empty container that spans the desired region, select the instrument, go through the relevant parameters and "Snapshot" each. This will give you a new phrase in that container that includes all variations (you may want to copy/paste it elsewhere and delete the container afterwards). It should be nothed, though, that previously looped parameters become physical copies in the snapshot. This may or may not be what you want.

You can also snapshot a container as a whole, which will include all instruments, of course.
