Feature request: Setting an instruments range (and sweet spot) more easy

Posted

Hi Andre, Hi List

I would like to have the possibility to input an instruments range and typical pitch by toggle in midi-values (numbers) or midi-note-names ("c4", "a6" etc.). Or at least have an information about which the keyboard shows. Now I feel uncertain, in which octave I am, and it's a lot of work to pitch up- ord down my ranges in Sibelius.

best,

Minkepatt

Like Smokey Robinson sang,  "I second that emotion".  I often use 'synth' sounds which really have 6-7 octave range, but I only want to use octaves 4 - 5 1/2...

For some intruments that have a four octave note range - I often wipeout a mid octave range, to make sonic room, for another instrument.

Synthfire may have had the original concept of using orchestral or real instruments.  But there is such a wide range of notes that can also be useful for synth sounds..

Another possibility If you could set a bandwidth of acceptable notes - (orctave 3 - 5),  notes above and below that would be left alone and used as articulations (and not transposed).
