Fishman TriplePlay MIDI Guitar Pickup Integration Issues

Hey all.

New Synfire user. Very enthusiastic. Still making elevator music, but it is starting to shape up. Trying to get a system going with hard rock sketches.

Anyways, keyboard works fine, but guitar midi pickup doesn't.

The polyphony cuts out and its all choppy.

I'm a guitarist so expresiveness is conveyed best with my main instrument.

A workaround is to record raw takes in C'ish on my piano with as much feel as possible, but its always a stab in the dark.

If anybody has advice regarding the use of this pickup with Synfire, I would appreciate the help.

Will be seeing you guys around. Less than 30 hours in on the product so I'll be posting more after I know what I'm doing.

I am using Midi Guitar 2 VST with good results. no problems with Polyphony. You might want to try the demo and see if it works for you.

Thanks Duderanch.

I will seek out that software if my interim solution fails.

For now however, I added all my plugin folder paths and re-scanned. Synfire found the Fishman TriplePlay vsti, which is like a multi timbre / multi chan vsti host. My logic was that it should work well with the individual strings. Sure enough it did. Reaper and Cubase don't have the same issues with the TriplePlay than Synfire does however.

It works well with the EastWest / Soundsonline subscription, which has a huge custom midi guitar library just for the Fishman pickup.

So an extra step is all that was needed.

Would be nice to bypass the extra plugin, but this composer is a happy camper now.

(I even read most of the Synfire manual and can use drones with Reaper! Woo!)

Did you fix the issue? I am using Synfire Demo right now and hopefully, when I get to grips with the software will integrate my Fishman set up soon...

The problem was solved completely for my purpose by ensuring that the Fishman Tripleplay VSTi is used to run the other VSTi plugins.

So the Fishman Tripleplay VSTi is used to load up say, the Garritan Instant Orchestra. You can leave it at that or you can even configure Tripleplay with range splits and string splits.

The key was to make sure Synfire knew where to find the Fishman VSTi!

Honestly, the moment it started working this way, I stopped looking for purer solutions.

As you learn the software more and more, you will also be able to use the exact same approach with the Synfire drones within your DAW.
