My apologies for this being so off topic. At the risk of possibly kicking off a controversy, I thought, because I was so baffled this could even exist, I felt the urge to share this with you. Lacking a personal blog, I thought it was ok to post this here. It's a trailer to a scientific movie claiming the earth was the center of the universe:
To be honest, creationism is a movement that is beyond me. I never understood why one would have to decide between faith and evolution when there is nothing that hinders their peaceful coexistence. Science can't prove the existence or the non-existence of god. Neither can religion prove science wrong. Scientist believe in god. Believers rely on the achievements of science.
That being said, where's the problem? If you ask me, I'd say god created the evolution and that's it. Not that I am in the position to assess this, but I don't have the slightest doubt that kicking off evolution was probably the most efficient possible way to create something as huge and complex as life ;-)
However, there is absolutely no doubt that earth travels around the sun and not the other way round. This is so obvious and easy to show, that I really wonder why on earth someone would want to debate this publicly? This takes a true flat-earther, if you ask me.

Really clever trailer as it doesnt indicate which side of the fence its on that clearly. Obviously hoping people from both sides of the argument will pay their money and go watch.
One thing I could never work out are the people that believe the world/universe is 6000 years old. Even work with a nuclear physicist that makes a living out of knowing things like the half life of uranium 238 is nearly 4.5 billion years, but can still believe the earth is only 6000 yrs old!

I've seen the grey haired oriental man on TV many times.. He has a regular series.. He explains and claims wormholes, you can fold space. how we will one day go faster than the speed of light etc.. I think of it as scientific entertainment.
He starts with a tidbit of data and finds or creates examples to justify it.. It's a reality show, we know what reality shows are like. Some of it occassionally sounds plausable, other times... no.. His big excuse is, he don't have the power to build 'warp engines' navigate a wormhole, or get close to a blackhole yet. It is decades or centuries away.
BUT who'd think that 50 years ago, most of the gadgets on Startrek would exist today. They had a show on that, and several of the designers of our modern gadgets, got the inspiration from Startrek. They just kept chipping away at how to bring it into reality..
There was a woman, named Jane Roberts. She wrote the 'Seth Material'.. a series of metaphical books.. She went into a trance twice a week for 20 years.. This 'personality' spoke thru her. Her husband took dictation, and they put it into a series of books (about 16) plus assorted smaller ones, and some cassettes.
Seth covers almost any subject you can think of, and they created a huge index, that refers to every idea or subject in all the different books.. One of his explainations, says all things started as an idea first, before it came into being..
Interesting, cause in the Catholic Church, a sin of thought, is as valid as a sin of deed.. Seth also claims that all matter (individual molecules) has it's own intelligence, although, we the definition we use for intelligence would not account for it.
I take exactly your point Andre.. I think it's just hype to get you to watch the show.
I believe God, or some entity, or energy, set reality into being.. and let's it evolve.. There is no master puppet maker, controller, manipulating things.
Are there forces beyond our ability to recognize and control them. Positively. Science has proven time and time again, just because you can't see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
We need the opposite of anything for that object or proccess to exist at all.
I recently watched a show concerning robots, and Artificial intellience. Several famouse and respected people were featured on it.. Ray Kursweil was one.. He claimed AI would surpass man's integience by 2040 or 2050. That by our reasoning and democracy we would have to afford them all the civil liberties of any US man or woman gets.
These machines will build better machines themselves.. It was actually a bit uncomfortable to watch. This theory has been the subject of many Sci-Fi plots.
In conclusion, man adopts the philosphies and wears them like clothes to feel valid, comfortable. When the 'facts' no longer suit him, a new set of 'facts' are presented, and change takes place..
(all this was just one cup of strong French Market coffee!) Time for another cup to start creating music.. oh boy

Hello. I'm pipin' in for the first time.
I was watching a television show the other day and they were mentioning that religion, well, . . ok, I'll say it. . . that Christian leader figures are scrambling to fill in more seats, because they have never seen lesser numbers in their churches than now. So, they are revamping their public image, it seems.
One example: they have these ridiculous fighter pastors now. I think they are desperate to be relevant again.
Just my opinion. I don't want to work anybody's nerves. I used to be a devout Christian, until I realized it f***ed up my child/young adult hood.
