Flexphrasers used in Synfire

Posted

HALion5 uses flexphrases to imitate instruments..because they are so lively,  i try to use more of them in Synfire
Flexphrases are used on static tracks only and they have variatons too
Chording is also possible it seems with the flexphrases so they can provide a basis arrangement in Synfire

For this i used 3 flexphrased instruments with a sax controlled by Synfire for some sort of movement controlled by chords progression ( the sax is not articulated yet in Synfire Express )

The flexphrases uses static chords and it should be handy if i could easy buildup chords on a static track in Synfire by dragging them from the pallette ( it is against the working principle of Synfire, but perhaps there is way to combine )
Cubase 7 let you drag chords from the chord track on top of a trigger pad in HALion4 as i understand it
But i don't like the idea to use Synfire and Cubase at the same time...while arranging in Synfire.

I made a new and now i import the midi from the flexphraser for the saxophone in Synfire, but it is only a intro
To make a song that is a challence from this to add other instruments and perform a saxsolo and followed by a rockguitar to name something.
This intro is static intro without chords ( synfire can nothing do with it ) so i must add some chordal instruments to let Synfire control this, but don't know if the flexphraser do have always a midi out and what happens if Synfire transform this ?

I can use the midi output flexphrases from HALion5 in Cubase again.
In the music example i have used a trigger midi note ( or chord depending on type of flexphrase), but i must use the complete midi data from the flexphrase, perhaps Synfire comes to a musical result with this.?
Cubase has extensive chord features to go further with a flexphrase for composing.
For this i can record the midi flexphrase in Halion and drag it to Cubase ..it plays in Cubase with a loaded HALion 5 Vsti the same phrase exactly again ( the flexphraser in HALion5  must be set off in Cubase )

I tried this to do the same in Synfire, but even with the static notes imported i don't get the same musical flexphrase result again?
What makes that Synfire cannot play this flexphrase in static mode ?.. i import also the flexphrase and it changes, but it still sounds not close to the original flexphrase?
Flexphrases are a source of realistic instrument midi phrases and Cubase will be further expanded with flexstyles in the future, so if there is a chance to use these in Synfire ?

Note: in Cubase i can drag in  the flexphrase ..in Synfire i must export the dragged flexphrase in Cubase and perhaps went something wrong during expor for the wrong exportoptions?  .. i must try this out again

No..it is probably not a standard midifile that i imported in Synfire from  The Halion5 flexhraser, they use for the flexphrase midi in Cubase?

Can Cognitone fix this ? .. suppose it working ..how about the transformated midi file in Synfire..will it still sounds the original flexphrase?
If it it gives not a musical pleasing result, than flexphrases are only to use in Cubase
Than there must be come a special importfeature  for Cubase flexphrases in Synfire and supposse this is working it gives much more realistic midi sounds.

I just tested a flexphrased recorded midifile from HALion5 (like i did also for Cubase ) , dragged onto MULab ( no importing with load ..)
It sounds the same !..that's good .. why it not sounds the same in Synfire for a static track for a another testflexphrase ?

I must test this again for Synfire..suppose it sounds the same ..than the midi flexphrase must be imported into Synfire and what will be chanced by Musical tranformation?--> can the imported flexphrase be used for composing?

I justed this with midi file imported "static" in Synfire , but it gives not the same result as with MUlab or Cubase
( some high notes are lowered and the typical high note for the organ riff is too low )

I loaded the midiflexphrase also in Synfire for transformation and i think it is usable !
The original flexphrase in HALion seems to be more realistic (sounds more dynamic and realistic ) , but the midi flexphrase in Synfire interpreted sounds different, but keeps the same feel. ( less dynamic and realistic)

A better interpretation by Synfire should be closer to the original midiflexphrase, but the ideal flexphrase is played in HALion5 itself and now it is first played in Synfire and than HALion acts as a soundmodule. ( gives deformations? )

Well HALion 5 flexphrases can be used as source for midiphrases and getting more realistic midiphrases should be fantastic.
