I have a figure selected but I cannot drag it or copy/paste it into a library. How do I do this? I couldn't find the answer in the manual.
I think I should use "new from selection" but that option is grayed out and not available.

I think I understand now. The library has to be open, and I have to use the span tool to select the figure. The segment tool doesn't work. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

New From Selection works on a span selection, that's right.
You can't drag an isolated figure segment to a library, only the parameter as a whole (by grabbing the parameter indicator). I would still recommend dragging the entire phrase (by grabbing the "track" name), though, as that will also retain harmony and other parameters.
