how to get Synfire to be a rewire slave to ableton live? Plus when synfire is open, the ableton gui is very slow

Posted

Hello,

I'm on windows 8.1  When I load Ableton Live first, it works perfectly.  Then when I load up synfire, ableton doesn't become responsive.  Also the two apps don't start and stop like they are supposed to when in rewire.

Any tips?

thanks,

not sure if you can make synfire be a slave but it should be working the other way so when you start synfire playing ableton plays, start synfire playing 50% through the song, ableton plays 50% of the way through.

Make sure you have one of your audio tracks in ableton set to have its input set to transport and set the arming to auto. The default settings from synfire should then work, but if not check the sync settings (you have to scroll the tabs to see the sync setting) There is a video in the tutorial section that shows it.

Not sure why having the two running would make live run slow. See if you can select two different audio interfaces in ableton and synfire's engine?

Thanks, I switched drivers and it is working.  Just a note, that for apps other than synfire the same driver works, I am ok with this workaround though.

Thanks,
