Just add a GM bank to a new description. Proceed as described in my reply here:

If the card's sound module does not show up in the ports list of HN2, you may need to enable it as the default GM synthesizer under Windows (refer to the user manual of the card). Then connect your device to the normal GM Synth listed in HN2.

Thanks!

It seems that HN2 connect with the midi channels of the souncard, but th esounallocation is not correct

sw1000Xg
  Port A - SW1000 #1 Synthesizer [1]
  Ch  Usage  Grp  Sound (Client)
    1  **      GM.Acoustic Grand  (Global Instruments)
    2  **      GM.Acoustic Grand  (New Song)
    3  **      GM.Acoustic Grand  (New Song)
    4  **      GM.Acoustic Grand  (New Song)
    5  **      GM.Acoustic Grand  (New Song)
    6  **      GM.Acoustic Grand  (New Song)I

It seems that the GM INit function do not work with this soundcard

Maybe the mode of bankselection for this soundcard?

Remember this is hardware sw1000xg like the mu90 from yamaha ( hardware soundmodule), so i doubt that you can use the same device setup procedure as for a soft vsti soundmodule?, wel lperhaps it doesn't matter?

The sw1000#1 synthesizer port is showing up in the device description in audio&midi setup

I doesn't work and do have a data list to figure out why it is not workinhg ..it is piece of hardware like a synth

So how do i setup a device setup for this hardware?

--------------------------------------

note

DAW Mulab has no GM init function so a setup for a vsti soundmodule is yet not possible ( i hope he will fix this)

DAW project5 i must now try to setup a vsti soundmodule (there is no developer for this anymore unfortanely)

Sure. You can use one GM device description for all GM hardware amd VSTi. That's what the GM standard was made for.

The only reason you need an individual copy of it for each synth or hardware is that HN2 can only connect one device per midi port.

HN2 does not send a GM/XG init message to the device before use. You need to put it into that modus of operation manually.

So i can use the internal Gm device from the Device Repository for the Sw1000 xg? ...no

So i must use a external GM device  made as device setup in the audio&midi setup in HN2? ( like the example for Bandstand as you mentioned)

How i set the soundcard in the GM modus ( it is not a hardware soundmodule) ?

So the question how to get  a device setup for sw1000xg ?

With wich program i make a device setup?

 note:

HN2 does not send a GM/XG init message to the device before use. You need to put it into that modus of operation manually.

The GM/XG init message is only for use with a VSti soundmodule than?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As i understand it now ... the audio& Midi setup in HN2 is not for use for hardware devices

The device setup for these hardware devices are made in a device editor?  ( i  remember cakewalk has the same thing with device setups)

Is in the Device Repository more information how to make a device setup for hardware ?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: Audio& midi setup is functional but is not particular userfriendly to guide people thrue the device setup

Ok "midinam" is the answer for a device setup for sw1000xg

note: the positive thing from all this setup hassle with HN 2 that i am forced now to think about how al exactly works in Midi!

In fact it is quite simple : a midi port has 16 midi channels and to understand how a loopbackdriver works ..that's all

But there is more... study the video tutorial for device setup..to get idea how it works

Still i am wondering about to come a exiting automatic installer for Vsti ( how about for synthesizers ?) what do you need more to know from Midi

- how to collect a custom soundmodule with the automatic installer ?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps i can use the program "midiquest" for setting up the sw1000 xg ?

Note: there is no windows utilitie program for setting up a midinam?

I am in quest for getting a real sound out of HN2 :-)

How i set the soundcard in the GM modus ( it is not a hardware soundmodule) ?

If the synth appears as a midi port, playing midi to that port probably already assumes the GM mode. If not, you need to consult the user manual of the card.

With wich program i make a device setup?

Use HN2, the Audio & MIDI Setup window. Use the menu Device >> New. Name it after yout card and add a GM sound bank with Bank >> Initialze General MIDI.  Then connect it to the card's MIDI port. That should be all you need to do.

You don't need a MIDNAM editor, just proceed as explained and you'll get a GM device description in a minute.

some features from the usermanual of sw1000xg

- Normally the sw1000xg plays in Xg mode... In Xg mode the sw1000 will play Xg compatibele data ,as well multitimbral data created for the Gm sytem Level 1 format ( for HN2 than)

-SW1000 has 32 midichannels, but for HN2 you use  16  ..so SW1000#1 synthesizer is the Midi driver for the first 16 channels
this midi driver is showing up in HN2

- The sw1000 XG features both XG and TG300 sound modules, wich mode to select is base on incoming midi data, you can easily change the mode by MIDI systems exclusive messages that you program in sequenzer data, at the head of your composition

( So when HN2 makes a call to the tonegerator of SW1000 xg it must set the XG mode ..so the question is now is HN2 capable of doing this    ?????????????)

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I already did setup a GM device setup..but there is a wrong soundallocation, because ( i think) that HN2 consider SW1000xg as a GM soundmodule, but that is not ..it is a XG soundmodule( XG Mode)

XG is backwards compatible with GM.

You might need to use a software panel that shipped with the card to set ot to GM/XG mode. But, as I said before, I don't think this is necessary, because the synth is already listed as a midi port.
