Is there a way to send a Song Select message from Synfire to external gear?

This would be nice to have. A simple manually-operated pop-up widget would serve. Even better if it could remember its setting on a file-by-file basis.
The use-case is external gear where a Song Select message would immediately configure it (choose the Song) whereas not having such would require the user to go to that gear and do many button presses, or turn-turn-turn a knob until the desired Song (multi-timbral setup) is reached.
When the Song list in the gear starts at 0 and the desired song is at a much higher number then it can get pretty tedious ...
