Ilok is not working..yet

Posted

i try to get the ilok working, but this crap( first i demolished almost the dongle by the stupid instructions to remove the cap and the black release tab..as reaction on this i would like to use a hammer on the dongle..and made phonecall to the shop..pissed off about this crap dongle )

Now it is not working because it get's no entrance to the server of ilok : we're processing your request  ---> The Active-X component that talks to your iLok was not initialized.

I installed firework did a security option change in IE and put tdown the virus scanner , chance the ilok in a another slot

Well..Google is your friend and try to get fixed ..crap ( Cubase Dongle works like a charm )

I wonder how you managed to break that cap. Just pull it off to open. Every USB memory stick works this way.

What was your question, or which bug did you want to report? This is not clear from your post.

Yes, i do use also other usb sticks, but this dongle has a sleeve and a cap

I looked to the enclosed intruction picture with the white arrow and try to push black release tab, but cap and sleeve off are mixed by me

I try to push the black releasetab while the cap was still fitted on the dongle ( and it it was not loosly connected that it went off )
This picture sets my on the wrong leg ..it shows not that the cap is removed.. stupid done..unbelievable..haha
I must laugh about the stupidity

The dongle is damaged on the outside and i can send it back, but it still function i assume

But returning to try to connect the ilok ..it seems that the iloks gets no needed active x- component

Error ( a lot to find on internet )..so internet explorer i snot loading a active x component ..now i just chance the security settings..IE

The Active-X component that talks to your iLok was not initialized.

If I remember correctly, you can whitelist the "ilok.com" domain with IE to allow ActiveX. No need to lower your general security settings.

Really ..terrible this..you can shoot me down..Cubase dongle  is working fantastic, but with this dongle?

Yes thanks!

I have seen it before with activex  on their website.. i remember that my browser has this feature earlier and asks all the time if i want to install a activex component, but IE9 don't come up anymore with this messages

I must activate this bar again..that IE9 asks for installing a directx component..but how?

haha...that's exactly what happened also to me. The trick is that it's not necessary to push the black release tab for removing the cap. Just pull (very) sharply. The black release tab is only for removing the labelling cover.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Once it is installed, the iLok works great. We do not even notice it anymore.

Yes i believe that, it makes no sense now to stress that out here, because this ilok crap is not working ( my Cubase dongle worked without problem ) Did you have seen the errors about this ilok on internet ? Hi juergen! I am not the only one who ...has trouble with this ilok crap

The iLok cap was tough for me, too. Almost used hammer and chisel!  :)

Now I have it and my Cubase dongle on a USB hub so I do not have to ever put cap on again.

Hi KenK !

Yes, a good idea to put the dongle in a usb hub (  out sight and never see it again  )

I used firefox 3 to get entrance to the ilok site

Only  there is no license to see there yet, so Cognitone must  send the license to the dongle (grrr) account

You received a license code with your purchase. Please check your email. Copy that code into the "redeem" form at ilok.com.

Yes, thanks André
It is tricky now, because IE9 still cannot handle this and i am forced to use Firefox again to first make contact with the ilok account.

Active x componet(s) are required to get this done by I9, but i did find not yet a way for IE9 that it load the neccessary activex component for the ilok procedure.

So let me try it with firefox (3.6.28)--> i tried also  first the latest version, but that did not work ) to get it working

Finally  Synfire Express starts up with the licence ( but get a warning : unable to find Audio engine ....c: \program files(x86)..

Strange this is not related with the dongle issues , because i thought the audio engine is included in the installer ? ( ido use a 64 bit windows professional version )
This must be working also 100 % .. so how to fix this ?..install audio engine separated
Than  i will install both versions for 32/64 bit

Ok hehe Synfire Express start normal now..took a whole afternoon in time to install it with this nice looking dongle
A simple dongle .. screwed by a designer and with problematic software install..can it be more worse?

A worst case scenario...i could not handle this anymore for a while with patience.. so i must try to relax now.
By using a another browser than the default IE9 ( i still curious why i can not load the activex component in IE9 ?) i managed to get the dongle working with Synfire Express

Ok let's now go back to music............. o yes i do now noticed the new video made by Cognitone  ..super!

I just start Synfire Express up and all works fine again.
