IMPORT CHORD PROGRESSION MIDI FILE AS IS

Posted

Hello all

Excuse my bad english

I want to import a midi file with a chord progression and respect their original notes and their original chord position (chord inversions) as harmony structure in the Arrangement.

I know that Synfire Pro interpret them in his best way (and change their position altering their original chord inversion) but i want the contrary (in this case),synfire pro adapts to that original chord progression and then works about them.

Is there anyway to import this midi file´s chord progression without change their original notes and position?

&&&&&&&&&&&

I create a New Arrangement

Track-Sound-Browse-Piano Grand Acoustic Ok

I choose Progression Editor tab - In Harmony tab I Write C6/C  Dm/A and Synfire interprets C3 E3 G3 A3 (C6/C) this is what i want,is ok but the following chord Dm/A synfire interprets A1 F2 D3 and i want A2 D3 F3

How can i change this?

I tried with change the typical pitch of the middle range of this instrument (acoustic grand piano) but nothing change

Hi
about the first part of your question
you can import that progression as "Static" data
on import screen click to chord progression track and choose :
"Input For Harmonizer (static)"
also
if you already imported click to "Take" parameter on this track's inspector and drag drop Take on to "Figure" parameter
this will change the figures brown color ( static ) now you can hear exact notes.

i hope it helps

Hi Soundcase and all

Thanks to your fast response.

By your advice not get what I really want,is very close.

I expressed bad my goal.

I want to enter in synfire pro as progression harmony of the song by one midi file chord progression or by write it in progression tab and Synfire respect their notes position, without change them or without it own(synfire interpretation)in progression harmony.

When I open a new arrangement in synfire pro at the top appear the default container called New Arrangement and in the sheet zone also appears,if you put the mouse over it "defaults for all instruments in this container "container defaults".

bellow is the first track by default Null Sound.

Above New Arrangement is progression "Double click to make a snapshot ,or enter chord names in inspector.HERE is where i want to reflect my chord progression midi file respecting their original note positions.

The first chord is C(add9) Bass: 5 (G) Is an inversion G2 C3 D3 E3 but if i write C(add9) Bass : 5 (G) in progression inspector synfire pro interprets it different  G2 D3 C4 E4 and if i import that midi file as Soundcase said me:

preset: input for harmonizer (static)  Algorithm : static pitch  Chech Import track and Harmonic Context appears only C (not C(add9) Bass 5 G.

I would love that the chord progression midi file appear as is on progression harmony in sheet zone (above New Arrangement) by default c and then when you import new instruments, for example a bass will follow my chord progression harmony.

I want decide the exact chord progression i want reflect and synfire adapt it.

Synfire is as indomitable wild horse!!! does not leave you the freedom to decide your own chord progression written in inspector progression or import it by midi file

Thanks

The Harmony parameter does not have note positions. Each instrument may choose to use different notes.

You can set the bass note in harmony parameter for each chord. It is used by the magenta bass symbols. Be sure you check "Inversions" in Interpretation parameter. It forces the purple arpeggio symbols to use the bass note on the zero line of the figure staff. Chord accompaniments generated with Auto-Chords feature will also use this to invert the chords.
