This is a medley of short phrases generated by KIM to demonstrate its capabilities. I've reviewed it and added some newer phrases from the most recent example library. The only editing allowed was deleting and resizing symbols to make transitions more smooth.
Generated phrases tend to be overly dense at times, so deleting symbols and transposing segments is almost inevitable. I don't think this is a realy problem, though. That's why phrases are editable in the first place.
When you sift through and weed out KIM phrases, do you edit them often? Or do you keep them as they are?

Im new here but so far I've been studying this software in and out and I realized for me, the best is when I use HALFTIME on the factories.
I create RnB, Hip Hop, Trap mostly and I find the Q+A Halftime is the most effective for me. Almost every single generated phrase is useable in that manner.
I just split it into separate instruments, create some chords, create some advanced solos and fills with a simple bass line and im done.

Yeah, halftime opens a phrase up for more breathing room. Less is more.
I also noticed that many users don't spend much thought on tempo. The easiest way to ruin your songs is to keep them at the default 120 bpm. Try 140 bpm with a few halftime phrases, or 90 bpm with faster ones.
What also sometimes works is mixing time signatures. Try a 6:8 or 3:4 phrase in a 4:4 song and you might be surprised what refreshing stuff you get while the main beat is moving on.
This example track doesn't have a fixed beat. There's a 5:4 phrase towards the end, as well as 6:8 and 3:4 mixed in. Of course you can't do that with a dance track, but it does wonders with ambient, chillout and other atmospheric styles.

Can't promise an ETA, but as a former vocalist I'm really eager on making a vocal melody factory. There are specific constraints to rhythm, pauses and pitch moves that aren't easy to write as rules, but it will eventually work. The current melody factories can't easily emulate that.

KIM is currently being held in a laboratory and cared for with great attention. We cannot release her into the wild for the time being. Documenting and supporting a language and its development environment for public use is extremely time consuming and costly. We just don't have the resources for that at this time.

An updated version (just play the track at the beginning of this thread again) now uses different playing ranges. I shifted the mid range higher for more clarity. It really makes a difference.
I love how almost everything can be altered in hindsight. Sometimes it leads to a fight with yourself. You got used to a melody or timbre that you fell in love with and suddenly this headstrong player dares to play something different (not that it isn't exactly what you asked for, but music psychology plays weird games with us).
