Kontakt 5 missing notes from Synfire

Posted

Just wondering if any one else has come across this problem...

1. Compose simple chord sequence in Synfire using  autochords (or chord segments)

2. Play sequence to VSTi using internal engine - in my case  GPO4 Aria

3. Monitor VST Keyboard - all ok; VST keyboard shows chords being played correctly in full as expected.

Now change VSTi to Kontakt

Play sequence as before. Kontakt plays full chord for first chord only and then only plays 1 or 2 notes for subsequent chords instead of the full chord. This occurs for Factory Presets (eg organ) as well as for other Kontakt plug in VSTs.

Any ideas?

Favour required with Kontakt 5 problem please...

I have investigated the issue further and the problem seems to be with Kontakt and not related to Synfire. If I generate  the notes within my sequencer (Studio One 2) or other sources then the same problem occurs with Kontakt. I contacted NI support over a week ago and just received a response saying they are very busy....

To try and isolate the problem, could I ask someone out there with Kontact to try this simple test?

  1. Generate 1 bar of sequential quarter notes of the SAME PITCH in your sequencer
  2. Watch how the Kontakt keyboard responds to these (using any factory VST presets e.g Organ).
  3. You would expect to see the keyboard key pressed 4 times and held for the full duration of each of the notes. I only see the first note held for the full duration. The remaing notes are only briefly blipped. This problem only occurs if the notes are the same pitch - different pitch notes play for the correct duration.

This is the root cause of other problems I encountered, for example when playng chords as some notes are sustained during chord changes and then play the sustained notes incorrectly.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I can not test with Kontakt 5 at the moment.

Concerning Synfire please check if 'Tie Notes' is enabled with the interpretation settings. Synfire does not retrigger the same note again when using auto chords, if tie notes is on.

Thank you for your input Supertonic. You are absolutely correct about the "Tie Notes" and this could certainly lead to confusion....

However, as I have mentioned, my problem seems to be with Kontakt as it exhibits the same symptoms even if Synfire is not involved. It appears to be  some script problem or legato function within Kontakt that I am not aware of... although I have tried bypassing the instrument script in Kontakt. but that makes no difference.

As my GPO Aria player keyboard performs exactly as expected it means one of 2 things;

  1. There is a major problem with Kontakt (still waiting for a response from their Support Dept...)
  2. There is a problem with my Kontakt installation....

If anyone could try the quick Kontakt test from my previous message, that would be of great help.

Thank you again for your response.
