MacBook trackpad and drag & drop

Posted

I wonder how other MacBook users fare with the trackpad.

Synfire heavily makes use of mouse gestures like right-click menus and drag/drop. While most things can also be done with copy/paste, it is drag/drop that's most convenient and intuitive. Until now I always used a mouse with a MacBook, but when you're travelling, the trackpad should work as well. We want to update the user manual to include this topic.

Maybe it's just me, but I still have to figure out how to use the trackpad for drag & drop. System settings for the trackpad has drag & drop enabled. Still I can't seem to hold onto anything (files, folders) and drag them. Neither with one finger, nor with two or more.

While I'm looking for a solution, I'd like to know: Is that an issue for you as well? Do you prefer to use a mouse, or did you resort to copy/paste?

I use trackpad, external pad most, In logic I use three finger to select and move, in mac system preferencs, go to Accessibility, Mouse & Trackpad, Option, three finger drag. I use three finger drag in Synfire to drag and works well most of the time if you know what you are doing.

That works.

Funny how this is found under Accessibility and not under Trackpad.

Perhaps you most be a Logic user and use Logic Pro Help site, I know I said that too.
